My portraits are essays in personality not exercises in photorealism.
I paint people's personalities both in and out of the context of what is happening in their lives, depending on whether they are defined by their present circumstances at the time of the portrait.
These paintings range from the abstract to the allegorical to the eccentric. But their subjects are always recognisable, not just as a likeness, but also as a personality, a set of passions and an outlook on life.
